| Purchasing of flowers and plant materials | Purchased locally, these can be from British Growers or from the wholesaler who deals with the Dutch auctions or directly from Columbia, Kenya and many other countries which produce flowers. Materials are purchased as much as possible via the wholesaler from growers who are certified with strict standards and codes of practice. |
| Cardboard packaging | Any cardboard or cellophane used or received as packaging of flowers, plants and sundries or any item with protective materials that can be recycled is dealt with through the local council authority collection of waste procedure or taken to the local tip. |
| Disposal of waste | All green stems, leaves and any fresh garden materials, residue of cut materials. All are recycled. Green waste is kept separate from cardboard, plastics and any other used materials which are not biodegradable |
| Using Recycled materials | Many of the glass vases and water tubes used are produced from recycled materials. |
| Sympathy designs | Funeral and Sympathy designs are suggested to clients which are environmentally friendly, any foam frames used can either be recycled or are bio-degradable. |
| Energy | Low energy bulbs for lighting are used, saving of energy such as heating is preferred, due to the nature of the flower and foliage reaction to direct heating and temperature change |
| Deliveries | We use a fuel efficient delivery vehicle which requires diesel, The vehicle is a low emission. |
| Technology | IT technology has vastly reduced the use of paper; email and texting is used where possible to reduce the amount of paper used for communications to customers eg, wedding quotes, sending photographs to clients, invoices and statements. PC, Lap top, Tablet and mobile’s carry out all of the above requirements. When any IT items require replacing, the old ones are disposed of adhering to the local authority procedure for disposal of IT and electrical equipment. |
